Questions about HVAC:
We suggest checking filters monthly. If you have a disposable type filter, (these usually have a cardboard edge), and if it is dirty, just replace it. Don't attempt to clean it. Some higher efficiency 1" pleated air filters can go up to three months before needing replacement. In the higher-use seasons, and homes with pets, it's better to check more often.
Well, the optimum indoor range is around 35% relative humidity, but 30% to 40% tends to work best for many homes. If you go above this level, condensation on the windows can occur, breeding mold that leads to allergy and respiratory problems.
Dust mites, the leading cause of allergies, thrive in as little as 50% relative humidity. Allergens like molds thrive in relative humidity conditions above 60%, leading to a variety of aliments including asthma, allergies and respiratory infections.
A two-stage furnace operates much more efficiently than a single-stage furnace. It provides the right amount of heat to efficiently satisfy your home and family's needs. In addition, a two-stage furnace is much quieter since it doesn't operate at 100% capacity every time it runs, and creates less carbon dioxide emissions for the environment.
If you are in the market for a new gas furnace, then without a doubt, a variable-speed, two-stage furnace would be your best choice!
Heating your home using natural gas is convenient, affordable, safe and reliable. That's why gas systems are the most popular heating systems in the United States. You don't have to be dependent on a fuel delivery when you choose natural gas and as a resource, natural gas is plentiful with no signs of shortage for at least 100 years. A chimney is no longer required and another benefit of natural gas is its cleanliness. You don't have to worry about unpleasant odors, soot or ashes when you use gas heat.
Propane gas, while not as convenient as natural gas, is also a clean and cost effective way to heat your home and run your appliances. In areas where natural gas in not available; propane gas is a good alternative.
Electric can also be an efficient option in homes that offer an affordable electricity utility rate and/or are unable to have a natural gas or propane supplier.
